NCRTM Team Meeting 09-24-07

Present: Julie Hoffmann, Ken Tingey, Michael Millington, Erica Jackson, and Karl Smith

Open issues

.1.Bugzilla (Karl): Karl and Julie discuss recent event involving a bug sent to Karl in regards to a password for a server site. Conclusions: Bugzilla is working as a good organizing tool in the office, but not as well on Karl’s end, where he has to deal with two sets of demands and two processes. However, it should be no more complicated than an email if received correctly. Ken will check the settings on Bugzilla to see if the communication to Karl could be improved.
.2.More Karl: Forums: Karl opens discussion on the topic of forums. He has searched and found two resources (PhpBB; Simple Machines) for forums that he’d like us to try out. Discussion focused on the ability of the external forum resources to integrate into the unified LDAP server. As a matter of standing policy, we have sought to keep everything on one system and where we haven’t (Rehabjobs) we contend with problems of complexity. Creating modular components is feasible for some features as long as it can be  integrated into LDAP, and the resources introduced do have desirable features. However, we have not yet explored the functionality of the Moodle forum feature. If Moodle met our needs, it would be the default direction to go. Mike Millington will explore the Moodle forum function and introduce it in a future meeting
.3.Even More Karl related stuff: CD info recovery: A customer has taken it upon herself to check out all of the CD’s and find the ones that don’t work. Julie is trying to re-digitize the CD’s, but it appears that they are so badly scratched that they can’t be properly read. Apparently there is a process by which the surface of the disc can be buffed, making the disc readable. Given how many discs we will likely see, it may be that we need to purchase the buffing machine. Julie will look into it.
.4.Program Evaluation: Ken? Ken has a 3-month extension on his post doc to facilitate a pilot program evaluation project with Wyoming. We are looking at creating an intensive intervention that results in a transformational training package. Very exciting.
.5.Articles submitted and in progress (Mike): One article has been submitted to Rehab. Counseling Bulletin, based on Ken’s data.
.6.Moodle Inservice (Ken): We have fallen behind on our mastery of Moodle function, as demonstrated in the previous discussion about forums. Ken proposes that we take turns learning about Moodle functions and bringing the information to the group during the bi-weekly meetings. Mike has volunteered to explore the forum function.
.7.Accounting Adventures: Julie: Julie has perfected an internal financial report that is very useful in strategic and tactical planning, except that the numbers have been coming in from old budgets. We need to set up a feedback loop that includes Julie everytime there is an adjustment to the NCRTM budget. Eeting with Jared and Tammy to be scheduled.
2.Rounds

2.1. Notice to the group (Julie): If you use the P card, make sure that they do not take taxes out of the purchase. This is not allowed on the P Card and causes unneeded complications.

2.2. Continuing Education: Julie will update the continuing education files that Angie made. Due to server re-organization, they need to be put somewhere where they can be accessed. Also, corrections need to be made to the text itself and the modules need to be tested to make sure that all of the links are bona fide.
